The Executive Board of the United Republicans of Iran

Congratulations to Obama on his re-election as President of the USA

In order to achieve this goal, the Green Movement needs peace and support from democratic forces around the world. However, the crippling sanctions and the threat of war continue to have a direct negative impact on the daily life of the citizens, disrupting the progress of the civil society and consequently emboldening the oppressive regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefore, Mr. President, we respectfully hope that your administration pursues the diplomatic engagement and direct negotiations with Iran as priority . These actions will help both, American & Iranian people, and the growth of democracy in Iran.

Iran Looks To 'Resistive Economy' To Fight Sanctions

Golnaz Esfandiari

Iran's economy is under attack, and to counter the financial "warfare" being waged against it from abroad Tehran is developing a new weapon. The "resistive economy" is intended to wean the country of its heavy dependence on oil revenue through fiscal belt tightening, increased industrial output, and the strengthening of science to boost technological innovation.

The Drying of Iran's Lake Urmia and its Environmental Consequences

Thousands of protesters took to the streets in the cities of Tabriz and Urmia in late August and early September 2011 saying that authorities have done too little to save the lake. Those around the lake fear a fate similar to that of the population surrounding the nearby Aral Sea, which has dried up over the past several decades. Disappearance of the Aral Sea has been an environmental disaster affecting people throughout the region with windblown salt-storms. The population surrounding Lake Urmia is much denser putting more people at risk of impact.
