His Excellency Mr. Barack Obama
President of the United States of America
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President,
On the occasion of your re-election to the office of the President of the United States of America we, the Executive Board of the " United Republicans of Iran, for a Democratic and Secular Republic" are pleased to extend our sincerest congratulations.
The election of the President of the United States of America has a significant impact both in the United States and throughout the world. We believe, as you do, that “for the United States of America, the best is yet to come” and we hope that our country of Iran can also benefit from your policies to uphold human rights and to restore and maintain peace in Iran and the Middle East.
We are convinced that the Iranian citizens deserve a better political system than what the current regime supports. The development of the civil society in Iran has improved considerably, culminating in the great democratic Green Movement of 2009. We are certain that the nonviolent democratic movement of the Iranian citizens will eventually succeed in progressively transforming Iranian
society into a democracy by internal forces .
In order to achieve this goal, the Green Movement needs peace and support from democratic forces around the world. However, the crippling sanctions and the threat of war continue to have a direct negative impact on the daily life of the citizens, disrupting the progress of the civil society and consequently emboldening the oppressive regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefore, Mr. President, we respectfully hope that your administration pursues the diplomatic engagement and direct negotiations with Iran as priority . These actions will help both, American & Iranian people, and the growth of democracy in Iran.

With our best wishes for continued success for you and your government,

The Executive Board of the United Republicans of Iran
